This is the sea

I was watching one of my favorite hung over movies Riding Giants the other night. It's a film about surfing with a lot of great music. One song in particular got to me, the one played during the credits. It's the song This is the sea by The Waterboys from the album with the same name. I decided to order the album. Ever since I got the album last week it has had a constant presence on my playlist.

Will the real DIGG stand up

If you read Digg regurarly like I do you might already know of the recent controversy with the leaked HD-DVD licence key.

The story behind this is quite interesting. To decode a HD-DVD movie you need a key. They key is a long number which is embedded in all software and hardware HD-DVD players. Recently a group of crackers managed to obtain one of these codes by reverse engineering a software player for Windows.

Mammatus and other cool clouds

Mattias sent me this link the other day. The blogging site specializes on images, and this post is about impressive pictures of different clouds. Some of them almost look fake or cg-rendered, but they are all real. The Mammatus (Sv: Mamma-moln) clouds are something we rarely (never?) see in our part of the world. They appear when the air is very turbulent and often in conjunction with tornadoes.

Worst coding moment ... evah

Coming home after a hard days coding I sit down in front of the tv and tunes in to the 2001 movie Swordfish. Now this movie has been on several worst movie lists on the net and is most people agree that it is a generally awful movie. Starring Halle "Catwoman" Berry and John "Battlefield Earth" Tevolta.

#1 reason to buy a PS3

Today a new (and maybe the only so far) reason to buy a PS3 when it premiers in Europe. A game called Little Big World. I'm totally excited. Note the use of the excellent music of The Go! Team in the demo. It would be even more awesome if it's indeed The Go! Team that has done the soundtrack to the game.

Tomas Andersson Wij at Rival

Tomorrow my favorite Swedish singer-songwriter Tomas Andersson Wij is playing at Rival here in Stockholm, and I have tickets! Haven't seen him since Hultsfreds Festivalen back in 2000 (I think it was). Anyway it's going to be awesome I think.

OOD with OOP at EA DICE

I'm in the middle of a OOD, that's Object Oriented Design, 2 day course courtesy of Electronic Arts. It's nice to brush up some of the basics, but also formalize some of the stuff I've read myself.

Also my test employment at Dice is nearing it's end and if all goes as plan I'll be permanently employed by the 25:th of March. Then it's party time!

I keep getting funny SMS:s from mum who's in Thailand on vacation. She has uploaded some gorgeous pics.

World's worst blogger

I guess the point of having a blog is to publish stuff at regular intervals. I see that I'm kinda failing at that part already. Maybe it's because I've been busy the last few weeks.

Work is going great, and I really feel I'm learning new stuff all the time. I'm not that experienced with advanced Windows programming but last few weeks I've really had to learn about process creating, piping models and what not. That has not stear me away from Linux, quite the opposite actually. As a developer I constantly reminded of all the small, but in no way insignificant, tools available in *nix.

Winter is here

Just as you thought winter was no longer going to visit us here in Sweden it returns. I went out shopping today and the ground was completely clear, 3 hours later there was at least 10 cm of snow and strong winds. As of now it seems to have calmed down but the snow seems to stay on the ground and not melt away. Nice I guess, especially when you don't have a car.

I snapped this nice picture from my window. Even though it's completely dark, the snow seem to reflect enough light from street lights to take pics.
